ICC Public Speaking/debate

JUNE 7 – AUGUST 20, 2021

Camp Brochure:

Public Speaking: Creative Interpretation:

What is crucial to success? Good communication! Creative Interpretation explores literature and characters through speech. Students improve analytical/organizational skills while learning how to speak effectively, use nonverbal communication, and overcome public speaking anxiety. Course features a fun, confidence-building curriculum. Detailed feedback, professional coaches!

Public Speaking: Improv

Enhance your child’s public speaking! In Improv, students learn to be expressive, use eye contact, gain vocal confidence, and deliver nonverbal communication through gestures and body language. Through our curriculum, students will convey personality and poise on the spot. Experienced instructors focus on each student.

Debate/Critical Thinking: Student Congress

Ensure an academic edge! Debate enhances reading comprehension, increases GPA, and looks excellent on college applications. In Student Congress, a mock legislative session, students debate “bills.” While they improve critical thinking, research, organization, presentation, and listening skills, students have fun, gain confidence, and experience teambuilding. Professional coaches, personal guidance!

Debate/Critical Thinking: Team

Team Debate, modeled after Public Forum style debate, develops students critical thinking, reasoning, and argumentation with a help of a teammate or as a group. Perfect for students looking to try debate with a friend. Experienced coach guides students to be the best critical thinkers they can be.

Creative Writing: Short Story

Have your students grow as writers and have fun doing so. Students learn the basics of story writing while expanding vocabulary, understanding organization, practice analysis through writing, and develop their own distinct writing style. Constant feedback.

About Our Expert - Communication Academy

Communication Academy’s Mission is to help students develop confidence in their communication skills. Students who communicate effectively and confidently are shown to be more successful in all aspects of their lives. In 2001, we were the first to offer public speaking to students in Cupertino. For the last 16 years we have expanded to offer Public Speaking, Debate, Math and English classes all year round. Different topics and curriculum are offered each quarter to promote optimal learning. Our experienced instructors are speech and debate coaches, teachers, college professors, or experts in their field. We developed all our own curriculum and offer a fun and safe learning environment.
