FREE MEDICAL CLINIC

India Community Center’s Free Medical Clinic provides high-quality healthcare to uninsured and medically under-served patients with the help of volunteer Physicians at no cost. The clinic offers acute care to adults. No Pediatric or specialty care services are offered at this time. Please note the timings and dates are subject to change based on the availability of the Volunteer Physicians.

FREE BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SERVICES

Every person goes through facing life challenges that occur normally, such as the developmental challenges of a birth of a child, a child’s first day of school, falling in love, marriage, divorce, parenting, work relationships, aging, and retirement, etc. Other challenges can be unpredictable, such as accidents and sicknesses. These challenges may increase remarkably if you are an immigrant in a new country.

When life becomes too overwhelming, it can result in changes in how an individual thinks, feels, and acts. The Hume Center offers Early Intervention services for individuals, couples or families in distress. These short-term, culturally sensitive and language-specific services offer therapeutic help aimed at developing knowledge and skills to deal with life successfully. Free services available in Urdu, Hindi, Punjabi, Dari, Farsi, Pashto, and English.   The Hume Center at India Community Center provides short-term, culturally sensitive therapeutic interventions aimed at enabling individuals to overcome challenges, develop coping behaviors, and identify their strengths.   Behavioral Health Provider | Portia Bell Hume Behavioral Health and Training Center provides a comprehensive multicultural and multilingual continuum of care for individuals, couples or families in distress. The Hume Center was founded by R.K. Janmeja “meji” Singh, Ph.D., who worked with Portia Bell Hume, M.D. a pioneer in developing community mental health. Her legacy of dedication to the betterment of the community lives on today, as the Portia Bell Hume Behavioral Health and Training Center, which was named after her to continue her vision to provide comprehensive mental health services and best practices in professional training and research.

AYURVEDA CLINIC

Translated as ‘the science of life’, Ayurveda is a highly individualized, self-empowering ‘whole system’ healing modality that is deeply linked to nature. Ayurveda promotes long-term, sustainable wellness by attempting to restore balance through diets, lifestyle and behavioral modifications. The Ayurveda Wellness Clinic is open Tuesdays throughout the year, depending on need.

Ayurveda Wellness Provider | “Prasanna” Steve Longbotham is an Ayurveda Health Practitioner and graduate from California-based Vedika Gurukulam’s rigorous five-year academic study program. He also holds a BA degree in Psychology from Stanford University. He has been running the Ayurveda Wellness Clinic at ICC in Milpitas since May 2017. He feels blessed to have the opportunity to apply his years of Ayurveda study in the clinic in helping his clients enhance their own lives and health as they also improve their ability to avoid disease.

These clinics are by appointment only. Suggested Donation for the initial detailed assessment appointment is $50 and $25 for Follow Up appointments.

 

Dr. Iyar has over 25 years of experience in medicine. She has gained expertise in various fields that address several aspects of health including homeopathy, nutrition science, psychology, the Enneagram, and spiritual growth.She combines her depth of knowledge from these various fields to provide clients with comprehensive wellness plans that approach every aspect of a client’s health.

She has earned several degrees in Homeopathy and has been trained at the Allen College of Homeopathy, the Homeopathic Academy of Southern California, International Homeopathic Academy, Dr. Isaac’s Academy of Homeopathy, and Bengal Allen Medical Institute. She has also received an MA in Counseling Psychology from John F Kennedy University. She has been trained in the use of Enneagram by Helen Palmer and Eli Jackson Bear. She is also a certified yoga practitioner and a strong believer in the benefits of meditation for the combined health of the mind and body. Treatment areas: Digestive issues Hormonal issue Allergies – food and respiratory ADHD, anxiety, depression, insomnia, dementia, bipolar illness Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, General fatigue, Joint pains and muscle aches Autoimmune conditions Treatment during chemotherapy to help cope with the side-effects of chemo as well as reduce the body’s susceptibility to cancer.
